Hiring coup as FairPoint Communications hires Verizon veteran

FairPoint Communications has indulged in a smart hiring coup of sorts as it has lured veteran Verizon Partner solutions exec Kathleen McLean. McLean would be occupying the brad new position of chief information officer of FairPoint Communications. It is almost as if FairPoint Communications has created the CIO position for the person (Kathleen McLean), instead of the other way round. McLean has more than 27 years of experience in the IT domain, and of these, 16 years have been in the sphere of telecommunications. FairPoint Communications wants to bring to fruition and increase the pace of various process and systems improvements that McLean will help to spearhead, with her level and extent of experience and expertise.

FairPoint Communications realizes that an attention to IT is the right way ahead, which is where Kathleen McLean will bring in crucial strategic focus and direction. This is essential for any company that is maturing and consolidating its operations and spread. McLean had been with Verizon since 198, which is why FairPoint Communications’ move to get her in as CIO is being viewed as a kind of hiring coup. FairPoint Communications had some problems with its finances earlier but it is on its way to reorganization and emerging from its financial woes.
