The Phoenix Coyotes may have been doing so well on the field, but off the field and on the balance sheets, the results and the position is quite the opposite. This is why the National Hockey League (NHL) is in talks with billionaire David Thomson who is based in Toronto as well as with True North Sports and Entertainment in Winnipeg. There are talks being held with Ice Edge Holdings and Jerry Reinsdorf to have the Phoenix Coyotes back in Arizona, but if talks fall through and nothing materializes, David Thomson could be a part of the Plan B. Hockey is a wonderful game, and there are many takers but it seems as if the Phoenix Coyotes are really going through a particularly rough patch currently.
As of now the NHL which bought the Phoenix Coyotes after it had gone in for chapter 11 bankruptcy filing wants to try hard and keep the Phoenix Coyotes in the Arizona area. That is why so much wheeling and dealing, talks and negotiations are being done. But in the world of finance nothing concrete can be said till the deal gets finalized. This is why the Phoenix Coyotes wants to keep the Canadian or Winnipeg option open such that it may be able to ensure that finances are made available.
